Heallo Year 5
We are a few weeks in to the new academic year, and I just wanted to say how delighted I have been with the start that the children have made to Year 5.
They are hardworking and keen to learn - and more than that, they are kind, polite and supportive of each other.
This year will fly by, but I am looking forward to every minute of it.
A few things we have been up to so far -
Shackleton's Journey has been the core text for our current reading unit. We have been looking at the endurance of the expedition to the Antarctic.
In science, we have been looking at properties of materials - we have completed two investigations so far on soluble substances and flexibility of materials.
Our Year 5 historians have been choosing the most influential and significant period of Ancient Greece.
We have been looking at the location of countries relative to the equator in geography, and we will research different biomes.
Hundertwasser is the artist we have taken inspiration from in art and design. We have use charcoal to complete subtractive drawing and we will be using paints in producing abstract art this week.
