Years 3 and 4 at the BBC philharmonic orchestra

Yesterday, years 3 and 4 went on an exciting trip to see the BBC philharmonic orchestra at Aviva Studios. This was a fantastic opportunity which thoroughly opened the world of classical music to the children and inspired them to develop their own creative responses to orchestral and vocal music. We specifically enjoyed hearing Margaret Bonds’ Montgomery Variations, which was written in response to the American Civil Rights Movement and tells the story of what it means to stand up for your beliefs. The children had a wonderful time clapping and singing along, well done years 3 and 4!
