'Be Active' - Wellbeing Day in Years 3 and 6

Date: 4th Jun 2024 @ 3:50pm

As part of this half-term’s Wellbeing Day, the children in Year 6 treated the children in Year 3 by creating some fun games to inspire them to ‘Be Active’.

This time, the idea was to encourage physical activity and engage our children in a fun, supportive, and healthy way.

The children in Year 3 were placed into pairs and small groups and introduced to their Year 6 leaders, who gave instructions and demonstrations so they knew exactly what to do.

The Year 6 children’s passion and creativity were vital to making this afternoon a real success.  They instilled the importance of physical activity in a fun and memorable way for the younger children.  All Year 3 had to do was to sit back and enjoy.

Here is what Year 3 thought of the games that Year 6 created for them.

“I wasn’t very good at the football games but I enjoyed them and tried my best”

“I liked playing hide and seek when Leon hid the ball and we had to find it”

“The football was great because I could use my skills and megsed Connor”

“I nearly took Emily’s head off with the ball but luckily it missed”

“Six squares was great and very exciting to play”

“You had to throw a ball into a square and put in a cross or circle like tic-tac-toe”

“I loved dribbling the ball around the cones”

Thank you to Mrs Walker and the Year 6 children for organising it all.  Not only have you made amazing electronic games for us but you really made our afternoon with these amazing sporting activities.
