Crucial Crew 2024
Date: 12th Mar 2024 @ 2:57pm
Year 6 visited Crucial Crew today where the pupils learned about personal safety.
They visted 5 different rooms where they were faced with different scenarios regarding their safety:
- Mobile phone theft - pupils witnessed the theft of a mobile phone and helped the police officers solve the crime by giving a detailed description of the suspect. They also learned what to do should this unfortunate event ever happen to them.
- Vaping - pupils learned about the dangers of vaping and about the different chemicals that can be inside them. They learned about nicotine comparisons between vapes and cigarettes and how long it takes for a disposed vape to decompose.
- Railway Police - pupils learnt about a real case where a teenager suffered life-chnaging injuries due to messing about near to the railway lines. They also learned how to keep themselves safe at train stations and on the trains.
- GMT - Tram Services - Pupils were told about IGO cards to make travel cheaper for them. They also looked at cases of anti-social behaviour and the consequences of such actions.
- Carbon Monoxide poisoning - pupils looked at household items which can emit carbon monoxide and what to do if they suspect a leak in their home. Each child was given a carbon monixide alarm to take home.
It was certainly a very informative and useful morning which was thoroughly enjoyed by our pupils.
Now they will all enter a competition where their poster designs promoting Crucial Crew and personal safety could win them a £50 gift card...good luck with your enteries Year 6!
