Design and Technology: Food and Nutrition

Date: 14th Feb 2025 @ 9:40am

This half term, we have been focussing on the key question, 'Why are our diets so different?'

In this unit of work, pupils have looked to Middle Eastern and Danish foods for inspiration and considered what they can learn from the diets of different cultures. They have learnt how to make flatbreads and use a range of techniques to make delicious, appetising food.

With fewer jobs now requiring such physical exertion and lifestyles becoming more sedentary, a diet high in carbohydrates is no longer suitable. We have tried a variety of foods we hadn't tried before in the hope of developing healthier eating habits.

Thank you for supporting our children by sending them in with the required equipment.

Later in the year, we will  learn how modern British food represents an eclectic mix of cultures.
