Friday 27th March
Hello again Year 5
I hope you are all safe and well. Today promises to bring more good weather, which is a small win in these unpredictable times.
Within reason, try and keep to a structured routine. Start with your 5 a day as you would in school. This is the last day of these particular spellings on Spellodrome, and I will update them to include more Year 5 & 6 National Curriculum words on Monday.
I know a lot of children, who are learning a new word a day. Looking up the definition, learning the spelling and using it in the correct context. If we did this until we are back in school, think of the impact on our vocabulary. You should be well on the way with your ‘Beowulf’ narrative - this is a great opportunity to remember and apply your Year 5 milestones. Today, I would like the focus to be on semi-colon use.
After a break and some fresh air, log on to Mathletics. I have changed the unit today to adding and subtracting mentally so I would like you to complete the set tasks.
I promised Kian I would be able to juggle at least 3 items by the time school opens so I will start training today. Also, to keep my mind active, I have set myself a task of learning 3 new phrases in German every day. Hopefully, by the time school opens, I will be able to hold a conversation with my German friends.
Top Tip - Chester Zoo are hosting an all day live virtual tour with hourly slots featuring a range of different animals. Log on and see what is happening whilst the gates are closed.
Be respectful too each other - as I know you always are in school - and stay safe.
