Firstly, I would like to say I am so impressed with the effort and attitude of this fabulous Team 1 class. They really are a joy to teach! The children consistently try their best in all that they do, which has resulted in them creating some fantastic pieces of work. They are also incredibly kind children who ensure nobody is left out of games.
Below I have outlined a few things we have been doing in class during this term and attached some pictures of the children and their work.
During our English sessions, Team 1 have created some wonderful writing about our class text, Man on the Moon. They have wrote letters, descriptions, asked insightful questions and retold the story. Whilst doing this, they have been learning to use: new vocabulary (Word of the Day), capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks and questions marks. They have also been practising checking that their work makes sense by reading it aloud.
In Religious Education, Team 1 have been learning about the importance of light in different religions. One of the religions we have looked at is Hinduism and where the celebration of Diwali originates. After learning about the story of Rama and Sita, the children made and decorated paper lanterns to celebrate how light triumphs over dark and good always defeats evil.
In science, the children have been exploring how shadows are made. The children used torches to investigate if opaque and transparent materials made shadows. Next, they had fun making shadow animals with their hands and then making shadow puppets, which they tested. The children learnt that shadows are made when light is blocked by an object.
