Reception 22.04.20
Date: 22nd Apr 2020 @ 8:36am
Morning,
Half way through another week guys! I hope you are all keeping busy and remembering to get lots of fresh air when you can.
This morning, I made egg on toast and only went and tripped over one of Freddie’s toys, egg everywhere. Hopefully my day will get better =)
Reading
I have been in contact with RWI and they have informed me that they have uploaded some phonics videos to watch.
Our children can all do set 1 and set 2 speed sounds and the focus for this term would be to reinforce set 2 with a focus on spelling. As a little challenge feel free to move on to set 3 sounds when children are fully secure with set 2.
Please watch the set 2 link everyday just to get these sounds into the long term memory.

I have also been told that there are other phonics resources too that are available to download.
Maths
I have set some more work on mathletics for you to be getting on with =)
I would also like to set you a little challenge which will feed into next week maths work. I would like you to create your own clock. I have put a template on the homework page for you to download and print, or you could create your very own. I know how creative you all were with the number line tasks so I am very excited to see your clocks.
In EYFS the requirement is to talk about routines and what happens during mornings, afternoons and evenings. However, I always like to go beyond and get the children actually telling the time and linking it in with something that happens. For example, at 9 o’clock in the morning I start my RWI lesson at school.
Have fun boys and girls and next week I will set you some time challenges.
I am trying to cover as much as I possibly can online. Your children are in such a good position from all the learning we had already managed to teach so please don’t worry. Little and often is always the best approach.
Missing you all so much =)
Take care,
Mrs Flanagan
