Sports Day 2021
Year 3, 4 and 5
This Tuesday, Year 3, 4 and 5 took part in a Socially-distanced Super-sanitised Sports Day.
Each child was part of a Euro 2020 team; Croatia, Czech Republic, Sweden or Ukraine. Working as teams, all the children gained points for their country in a number of traditional events.
There was hockey and football dribble, basketball bounce, skipping, sack race, egg and spoon, balancing the bean bag and bean bag toss.
As the photographs show, the children had so much fun taking part in all the events. There were bonus points given out left, right and centre for sportsmanship and good behaviour. Before the children moved onto the next event, the equipment was thoroughly sanitised so it was safe to use for the next class.
Here’s what the children thought:
Year 5
Olivia and Jasmine: Sports Day was such good fun. It was nice to know that everyone is supporting of others.
Shea: This Sports Day was such fun and it matters not just to do it by yourself but as part of a team.
Ava G: Teamwork makes the dream work!
Mollie: It feels great when your team mates are cheering you on.
Jack: I enjoyed Sports day, having lots of fun with my friends, especially when I did the sack race.
Year 4
Skye: I liked the skipping and the bean bag throw. I didn’t realise I was so good at throwing.
Ellie: I really liked all the events but my favourite was the skipping because I think I am really good at it.
Brayden: The football and the basketball were my favourite events. I know I am good at football but I also did well with the basketball for my team.
Year 3
Lexi and Mason: The basketball was hard at first but on the way back we were bouncing the ball really fast.
Frankie: I have never skipped before but my team cheered me on. I was surprised I could actually do it.
Athena: My favourite event was the hockey dribbling because it was easy and challenging at the same time.
The overall winners were Czech Republic with 74 points. Congratulations!
In 2nd place were the team from Sweden with 70 points.
Joint 3rd place went to Ukraine and Croatia who were only just behind with 68 points.
Well done to all the teams. Their behaviour and attitude was brilliant. Everybody performed so well and everyone tried their best. What more can we ask?
There were only two things missing – our wonderful Year 6 and a noisy crowd to cheer us on. Despite this, we had a wonderful time and we look forward to you watching us next summer.
